The community of Vashon Island, located on Puget Sound, has completed a 98 page catalog that details the goals and efforts of both the Island’s commercial and not-for-profits businesses to address and mitigate their impact on climate change. This includes “good works” that have been in place and new efforts going forward.

Think: The Whole Earth Catalog published in the 1970s.

The Catalog, conceived by Rondi Lightmark during a Climate Action meeting, was created through the collaboration of Island artists, designers and writers. It contains art, illustrations, fun quizzes, articles and resources concerning climate change. I think most importantly it serves as a record that details the efforts, now and going forward, that Island business are putting forth to mitigate their impact on climate change.

Never underestimate the power of going on public record to affect change. You said it and everyone reading it is now committed to helping you reach your goals.
Full disclosure, I’m a native of Vashon Island and must say I’m in awe of the members of the community who put forth such effort to start this Project and publish this Catalog. The community of Vashon Island is a very special community. Not only do they dwell in a gorgeous, pristine environment but, more importantly, they are aware of this and are taking steps to mitigate their impact not only on their local environment but the Earth as a whole.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
