“Global plastic production is approaching one million tons per day and is set to double by 2030. If this continues, experts project that by 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. It is time for California to take action, and the Plastics Free California initiative aims to do just that.”
The aforementioned statistic and prediction are both front and center on the Plastics Free California Initiative website. Its very sobering to say the least as we’re all part of the problem and need to become part of the solution. This solution includes our own personal efforts to limit our plastic consumption, legislation meant to create the infrastructure to manage plastic waste and means to compel corporations to innovate coming up with more environmentally friendly packaging.
