Prior to boarding our flight from Vancouver International Airport to Long Beach Airport on Vancouver Island, we took several pictures of the plane and flight crew.

The forty minute flight began in dense cloud cover but then we broke free into glorious sunshine and clear skies. We got excellent pictures of the rugged coastline and our approach and landing at Long Beach Airport. The pilot and co-pilot could not have been more friendly and were amused by our enthusiasm.

When I returned home after the trip and was going through our travel photography I searched the plane’s tail number (C-FVCE) and was very surprised to learn it was built in 1969! We flew to Vancouver Island on a 48 year old aircraft! The plane was a 1969 Beechcraft 99 operated by Orca Air. I must say the plane appeared to be in good condition and you would never know it was that old. Ever since then I’ve attempted to record the tail number of aircraft we have flown on. I also searched the tail number of the helicopter (C-FBKA) we flew in from Sonora Island back to Vancouver International. The helicopter turned out to be a 2006 Agusta AW139 helicopter operated by London Air.
